Overview
How It Works
The RM850x uses a modern LLC resonant + DC‑to‑DC topology to deliver clean, efficient power. Here’s how each stage works:
Active PFC
The PFC circuit synchronises the input current with the voltage waveform, achieving a near‑perfect 0.99 power factor. This reduces harmonic distortion and wasted energy, helping the unit achieve 80+ Gold efficiency.
LLC Resonant Converter
The primary side uses an LLC resonant tank to switch at zero voltage, dramatically reducing switching losses and electromagnetic interference. This is the key to the RM850x’s high efficiency and low noise.
DC‑to‑DC Conversion
The 12V rail is generated first, then buck converters step it down to 5V and 3.3V on a daughterboard. This ensures the minor rails remain stable even when the 12V rail is heavily loaded.
Magnetic Levitation Fan
A 140mm ML fan uses a frictionless magnetic bearing for ultra‑quiet operation. Zero RPM Mode keeps the fan off until 340W of load, so the PSU is completely silent during web browsing, office work, and light gaming.
Protection Suite
OVP, UVP, OCP, SCP, and OTP monitor every rail and shut the unit down safely if a fault is detected. This protects your expensive components from electrical damage.
Key Features
850W Continuous Power
Enough headroom for an RTX 4090 and a high‑end CPU, with stable power delivery at all loads. Ideal for mid‑range to flagship gaming systems.
80+ Gold Efficiency
Up to 90% efficiency reduces wasted energy, lowers electricity bills, and generates less heat. The RM850x meets Cybenetics Gold and ETA‑A noise certification.
Magnetic Levitation Fan
The 140mm ML fan uses a frictionless bearing for exceptional longevity and near‑silent operation. Zero RPM Mode keeps the fan off at low loads.
Fully Modular Cables
Connect only the cables you need—less clutter, better airflow, and easier installation. Includes a 12VHPWR cable for modern GPUs.
Japanese 105°C Capacitors
Premium electrolytic capacitors rated for 105°C ensure long‑term reliability and stable output ripple, even in warm environments.
10‑Year Warranty
Backed by Corsair’s 10‑year limited warranty, demonstrating confidence in the RM850x’s build quality and longevity.

Setup Tips
Fan Orientation
Install the PSU with the fan facing downward if your case has a ventilated bottom panel. This draws cool air from outside the case. If the case is on carpet, orient the fan upward instead.
Use Only the Included Cables
Never mix modular cables from different PSUs or brands. Even if they physically fit, the pinouts can differ and may damage your components. Use only the cables that came with the RM850x.
Don't Daisy‑Chain on High‑Power GPUs
When connecting a graphics card that uses two or three PCIe power connectors, use separate cables for each connector. Daisy‑chaining can overload a single cable and cause instability.
